The view from Killington. You hike up this mountain all morning, and when you get to the top, you see a bunch of tourists who were smarter and just rode up the ski lift.
Then and now. On the left, 12-year-old me guarding the goods. When I did this chunk of the trail ten years ago, I refused to eat anything other than Captain Crunch. Today I carried and consumed a ceremonial box of the stuff as I re-traversed the section of the trail that I did as a youth.
Clearly my selfie game could use some work, but here I am entering New Hampshire - the penultimate state on this the Appalachian Trail.
